Position Summary :
The Materials Manager has primary responsibility for establishing, implementing, and directing all aspects of material planning and production scheduling for the Arlington, TX and Matamoros, MX facilities. He or she will oversee the scheduling and raw material management functions, including the creation and management of processes that ensure company product/service quality standards are met.
Major Duties & Responsibilities :
Responsible for leading all activities of the Materials team to ensure operational excellence in master scheduling, material delivery and input/output control to achieve exceptional performance to customer commitments.
Measure and communicate master schedule attainment, and initiate root cause problem solving to analyze variability and improve performance.
Analyze and troubleshoot problems in planning and execution, and generate alternatives to resolve both internal and external processing constraints.
Develop and maintain tools that will provide visibility to shortages and prioritize requirements.
Act as escalation point for material concerns, lead daily shortage meetings to ensure supply continuity, report on KPIs (inventory days on hand, line interruptions, expedite costs, etc.) and enforce best practices.
Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, production, and new product development to coordinate engineering changes related to order timing, part revisions,
new product launches.
Enforce maintenance of materials requirements planning master data parameters to ensure accurate demand signals (i.e. lead times, minimum order quantities, lot sizing, safety stock); identify and resolve system and/or bill of matieral inaccuracies to preserve data integrity.
Participate in and lead materials requirements planning system development activities, including specification writing, development, testing, and training.
Coordinates and communicates cross functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to incorporate and maintain customer and business requirements into Production Planning.
Designs, measures and communicates metrics that track the effectiveness of production planning and manufacturing execution.
Required Education :
Bachelors of Arts or Bachelors of Science Degree
Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum of 7 years experience in materials management, production control, purchasing or manufacturing
Minimum of 5 years management experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skillset and demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively across teams
Proven ability to foster and develop a strong team of material planners through selective recruitment, training and coaching.
Demonstrated resilience and capacity to lead a team through periods of change
Knowledge of various ERP/MRP systems a plus
Ability to travel 25-50% depending on demand
Preferred Skills, Experience & Education :
Master’s degree in engineering, supply chain or business
Bilingual Spanish capabilities
