-Min. Education required:

Bachelor’s degree in education or communications related field preferred (Education, English, Communications, Instructional Design, et. al.); or 5 years yrs of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Min. Experience required:

Three years direct experience with designing courses using software applications (example, Captivate, Articulate, Dreamweaver, Lectora or equivalent)

-Skills required (if applicable): Knowledge of leading adult learning principles and approaches to development (i.e., ADDIE). Strong analytical skills; ability to solve complex problems; highly developed listening and verbal communications skills; excellent time management and organizational skills. Functional knowledge of leading training development tools including Adobe Creative Suite, incl. Dreamweaver, Flash, Captivate, and Articulate Suite of products, Microsoft Office, and HTML5. Strong familiarity with LMS technologies. Ability to research and actively seek opportunities to implement the latest tools and approaches to efficient learning, including social media, rapid eLearning development, accelerated learning techniques, etc. Expertise with software configurations and problem solving methods needed to diagnose and resolve web technology problems. Position requires some design sensibilities, mixed with a fascination for technology, an obsession with learning, and an innate drive to share what you know. -This position exists to analyze, design, and implement training programs for the THRU, including eLearning applications, facilitated classes, workshops, and self-paced offerings. The role of the instructional designer is to increase the potential for learning transfer and encourage the engagement of learners so that they learn faster and perform better. -Develops blended, classroom based instruction and eLearning program approaches and methods.

•Works on one or more learning development projects simultaneously, using predefined standards and tools for content design, assessment protocols, Learning Management system and other tools. Ensures high quality design, regular reviews with internal clients (i.e., from proof of concept through delivery), consultants, and subject matter experts.

•Participates in testing and validation of new or enhanced systems applications as part of the preparation process to deliver learning programs

•Partner in writing and editing content for learning and development projects, including storyboards/outlines, module drafts, practice activities, knowledge checks, evaluation material, and job aids through the application of proven theories of adult learning.

•Utilize current technologies to deliver instructional and/or interactive programs and courses to various browsers across multiple platforms, including mobile devices.

•Build content into online learning modules using course authoring tools. (Articulate Studio, Adobe Captivate, etc.)

Delivers custom designed or off-the-shelf classroom and blended learning training programs.

•Delivers learning sessions at an exceptional level using established delivery standards. Sessions may take the form of classroom delivery, blended learning delivery and support, one-on-one coaching, group practice sessions, and pilot workshops.

•Conducts train the trainer on materials to build pools of SMEs and leaders that can teacher Texas Health content.

•Maintains and updates existing curriculum and course materials, working with appropriate subject matter experts or other team members to procure new or updated information;

•Create detailed design documents, which requires the person to derive primary and secondary course objectives, build measurement and evaluation tools, plan learning activities, identify opportunities for performance support, and determine content needs.

•Create, edit, and coordinate the distribution of assessments, questionnaires, evaluations, surveys, etc.

•Maintain list of certified trainers and utilize in coordination and scheduling of instructor led programs.

•Work with the LMS team to research and resolve MyTalent functionality issues to ensure all training programs developed work properly, are SCORM compliant, and successfully communicate data to MyTalent for compliance and reporting purposes.

•Provides regular updates to THRU management of the status of all design and development activities, completion of milestones and potential conflicts.

•Communicate program reports and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

•Communicate frequently with course attendees, their managers, and other regular stakeholders.

•Evaluate the results of training activities using appropriate measurement and evaluation tools: reaction sheets, skill checks, survey, observations, interviews, etc.
