Assist Operations Manager in the overall management and operation of assigned distribution center. Duties include assisting with coordination of logistics, recycling, and salvage operations including vendor and commercial sales. The Assistant Operations Manager will also oversee employee payroll, scheduling, performance evaluations, training, and hiring of staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Assist in oversight of all operations at assigned distribution center which include recycling, dock, and transportation. Monitor equipment status, repairs, maintenance, and safety within the distribution center.

Coordinate routing and scheduling between two geographically separate GCT locations.

Recruit, select, develop, evaluate, and counsel assigned employee(s). Terminate employees in accordance with Goodwill policies and in coordination with Operations Manager.

Assist in direction, supervision and coordination of staff activities to ensure departmental goals, budgets and objectives are met.

Maintain accurate staffing, equipment, and inventory information.

Provide training for assigned personnel in accordance with applicable company, local, state, and federal policies or laws. This may require cross-training with the Logistics Department to ensure compliance with all applicable TxDOT and OSHA requirements.

Maintain a professional work environment and appropriate standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization of both fleet and warehouse operations.

Manage all logistics staff and fleet requirements to include maintenance, repairs, licensing and inspections.

Recommend adjustments to staffing, equipment, and fleet including budget impacts to the Senior Director of Post Retail Operations.

Maintain 20 separate budgets in excess of $5 million.

Provide leadership, guidance and professional development for Operations Team and model expected behavior for staff.

Maintain a positive, team oriented relationship with management, peers and subordinates; encourage interactions between all departments.

Maintain good communications and positive team atmosphere with staff, peers and other departments. Promote the Mission of Goodwill.

Provide excellent customer service to all departments.

Attend all mandatory meetings and required training.

This position has supervisory responsibilities over the supervisor(s), lead(s), material handlers, dock workers, and forklift operators assigned to Post-Retail.


Minimum 2 years experience in logistics, recycling, or similar field with supervisory responsibilities of 20+ employees.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Must have excellent communication and computer skills.

Must have excellent analytical, creative, and flexible problem-solving and decision-making skills.


BA/BS or equivalent work experience.

Experience working with a diverse population.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar training.

Six Sigma certification or related training.

Expertise in Microsoft Office products.


$20.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications.
