Facilities IWT Engineer

General Description:

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States. The Facilities Engineering team provides utility support to support the LSI manufacturing facilities and entire site which spans 2.3M square feet. We are looking for a highly motivated, accountable individual to fill the opening described below in the Facilities engineering group.


Incident Prevention and Repair

  • Understand and apply root cause failure analysis to open-ended problems

  • Create and track root cause countermeasures through closed loop systems

  • Document and report near miss events through 8D process

  • Understand and apply FMEA concepts to real-world scenarios

  • Track all open action items to completion and closure

Operations & Maintenance Support

  • Provide day to day support of operational and maintenance issues on site

  • Assist/lead in troubleshooting of system operational issues

  • Manages projects with small to mid-scale capital investments

  • Complete monthly system operational cost analysis

  • Analyze data to predict utility/chemical usage

  • Responsible for monitoring current system demands and capacity concerns

  • Investigate ways to reduce the cost of maintenance or improvement projects

  • Create & modify maintenance and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Chemical & Waste System Improvements

  • Evaluate all IWT chemical and waste tank systems

  • Incorporate and standardize best safety practices for all chemical distribution and waste systems to exceed code requirements

  • Incorporate all improvements and best practices into site specifications and standards

Necessary Skills / Attributes:

  • 6 years related experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

  • Strong troubleshooting background and issue resolution

  • Strong data and system analysis

  • Must show ability to utilize excel for data analysis

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Intermediate project management skills

  • Knowledge of building and electrical code a plus

  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and chemical engineering principles and systems including pumps, pneumatics, process piping, chemical/material compatibility is a benefit


  • 3-4 years Chemical Distribution and/or Waste System design and operation experience

  • HPM expertise

  • Professional Engineering license
