We are seeking an experienced, high caliber HFM Contract Development Group Lead. The HFM Contract Development Group Leader works independently to provide financial and business analytical support to the Field Sales Organization related to pricing and contracting activities for custom and standard quotes, individual customer and GPO/IDN contracts focusing specifically on the Heart Failure Management (HFM) product lines. The Group Leader reviews customer sales data with current performance assessments and trend analysis and recommends contract strategies to maximize revenue and improve profitability. This position will also participate in the ongoing HFM integration activities, as well as new program development and provide leadership in the contracting area during this process

Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical:

  • Participate in HFM integration meetings; provide leadership in integration activities from a contracting perspective.

  • Work with internal management and sales leadership in developing new contractual programs for the integrated HFM portfolio.

  • Provide day to day guidance to other HFM Contract Development Analyst(s).

  • Monitors and administers contractual requirements from beginning to end, ensuring compliance, resolving differences with Field Sales. Identifies contractual issues and takes appropriate action to ensure satisfactory resolution and prepares letters to clients notifying them of contract limitations. Advises members of the project team on terms and conditions and potential risk issues associated with non-compliance.

  • Support sales force in formulating contracting strategy and negotiating contracts and pricing under parameters as set forth by management in conjunction with legal and marketing to facilitate positive outcomes.

  • Leads cross-functional group to deliver high quality contracts by established deadlines.

  • Composes contract responses from standard and customer templates. Reviews customer redlines, drafts new contractual language for account specific programs, and negotiates terms directly with customers.

  • Builds financial models to assess the value of proposals and contracts.

  • Reviews sales performance and recommends appropriate rebate and pricing strategies.

  • Understands internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve processes and services.

  • Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

  • Manages communication and awareness of pricing and contractual obligations with all levels of internal and external customers to include sales reps and hospital representatives.

  • Leads others to solve complex problems, exercising sound business judgement to make recommendations based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Trains field sales and sales management, contract operations and other SJM parties on contract procedures as needed. Establishes training protocol and keeps manager apprised of training progress and issues.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 7+ years experience in contract analysis, financial analysis, business analysis, or sales operations with financial analysis and modeling experience.

  • 5+ years experience with Master’s Degree

  • Demonstrated ability to lead others to identify innovative solutions to solve complex problems, based on analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Contract development experience in a medical related field and familiarity writing and editing legal contract language.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attentiveness to detail, and ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to listen, deal with unresolved issues, delays and unexpected events, and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data.

  • Must have the knowledge and ability to extract data from multiple information systems on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating a personal computer. Advanced proficiency with all MS Office products. Desired experience with SAP and Business Objects.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%, including internationally.
