Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc. Laboratory Operations Manager in Austin, Texas

Responsible for the overall daily and financial operation of the area (for example: Service. Pre-Analytical or Analytical Testing.) Direct supervision of their department supervisors, delegating responsibilities as appropriate to these General Supervisors. Working directly in support of the Technical supervisors for these areas. As well as developing or approving department specific policies. Participating in the development and approval of laboratory wide policies and procedures; ensuring that all laboratory policies and procedures are followed; accepting and supporting activities delegated by the Medical Director and Vice President of Operations. This position is 3rd shift Monday – Friday.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the selection, development, and maintenance of a competent and professional staff of employees.

  • Drives the selection, development, and implementation of instrumentation to maintain a State-of-the-Art Laboratory.

  • Continuously improves the laboratory to meet customer specifications and maximizes patient safety.

  • Develops, oversees, and maintains company, department specific, and laboratory wide policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Participates in the development of area specific operating and capital budgets. Manages expenses accordingly.

  • Functions as a resource to supervisory staff and other employees so that errors are minimized and service is maximized.

  • Insures that the areas for which they are responsible are current and in compliance with all regulations and required documentation for state and federal regulation of laboratory operations. Insures that all records required for licensure are properly maintained.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in the sciences.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in laboratory operations.

  • ASCP certification or equivalent for testing areas.

  • Leadership skills and supervisory abilities.

  • Organize and coordinate diverse activities.

  • Continuous improvement experience
