HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights w/Weekend Rotation in Austin, Texas

Position Summary: Administers respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician. Conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

Knowledge & Skills:

Respects and maintains the confidentiality of patient related information. Uses a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic modalities in the treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases and conditions including oxygen and other specialty gases, aerosolized drugs, chest physiotherapy, resuscitators, and aspirators. Capable of monitoring and treating patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Works closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals; other contacts include visitors, vendors, and staff from other area hospitals. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to write accurate and concise clinical documents. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the department and with department customers.

Education: Required: AMA accredited RT program; Associates or Bachelors degree

Experience: Required: Two years acute care hospital experience in Adult critical care or neonatal intensive care. Prior experience in teaching or as a preceptor either student or staff. Demonstrate clinical assessment skills as well as good communication skills.

Credentials: Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); Licensed as Respiratory Care Practitioner by State of Texas; BLS and ACLS
