Hostway Network Administrator in Austin, Texas
Hostway is seeking a Network Administrator for its Datacenter in Austin, Texas. The Network Administrator will work as a part of a small team responsible for the day-to-day operations of a large datacenter network. The ideal candidate should be comfortable using and troubleshooting Linux, specifically network stack and Netfilter/ iptables. This position interfaces with second and first level support, as well as the Network Engineering Team. Candidate must be willing to take part in an on-call rotation and lift 50 pounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform physical hardware installation and cabling.
Understanding of CLI interface on Cisco, Juniper, Brocade or other common network hardware.
Familiar with layer 2/3 Ethernet distribution and protocols (VLANs, Spanning Tree, HSRP/ VRRP).
Perform basic filtering (ACLs).
Have a firm understanding of IP routing and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
Able to conduct packet-level analysis using common tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, etc..
Familiarity with linux servers.
Have a firm understanding of UNIX.
Familiar with load balancing technologies.
Understanding of common Internet protocols (HTTP, SMTP, etc).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Familiarity with virtual network technologies.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a high school diploma.
Minimum of 1-3 years of proven technical support experience.
Working knowledge of routers and switches.
Experience and skill with DNS, mail servers, web servers, web servers, clustering.
Excellent team player with high-level problem solving skills.
High-level organizational and communication skills.
