HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Nurse Cert in Austin, Texas

_Position Summary: _ Under the general supervision of the Women's Health Education Coordinator, the Lactation RN designs, implements, and evaluates inpatient/outpatient lactation instruction.

_Knowledge & Skills: _ Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Works autonomously, sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Interfaces directly with public, physicians, staff, patients, administration, and ancillary/support department representatives. Written and verbal communication skills adequate for performance of the position. Maintains confidentiality of patient's medical records. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Required:* Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing


Required:* A minimum of 2 years experience in maternal / child nursing Preferred: 2 years experience as a lactation educator in an inpatient lactation setting

_Credentials:_ Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. TDH Phase I Breastfeeding course within 12 months of employment. TDH Phase II within 24 months of employment. IBCLC certification or CNS in Maternal/Child: CNS or IBCLC Certification within 18 months of employment full time (³ 0.8 FTE); CNS or IBCLC Certification within 36 months of employment for part time; CNS or IBCLC Certification for prn Lactation RN as soon as possible after meeting requirements. Current BLS Provider. NRP
