Job Description:

Whole Foods Markets Supplier Operations team needs Food Safety professionals with diversified experience and knowledge of environmental monitoring, allergen control, labeling, and weight control programs in high risk food categories.

This is a remote position reporting to Global Support in Austin, Texas. This role has the ability to be located in any region.


  • Perform on-site evaluations of food/beverage processors in assigned, packaging facilities and company owned operations

  • Oversee first production runs

  • Provide technical training and advice regarding quality systems, operational methods, personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning practices.

  • Develop supply chain guidance documents, supplier requirements, and internal team administrative procedures

  • Act as a liaison and a technical resource for select product categories between global headquarters in Austin, TX and a growing diverse vendor base


  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) from four year college or university preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years food safety and quality manufacturing experience with particular emphasis on high risk food groups such as produce, cheese, or fresh prepared foods

  • Strong technical knowledge in GFSI, FSMA, HACCP, Environmental Monitoring programs, Quality Systems, Federal/State and International food safety legislation

  • Ability to travel around 60% of the time

  • Home based, but located near a major International airport

  • Preferred experience in retail private label

  • Preferred experience with supporting and visiting International suppliers

  • Proven track record of successful food safety auditing

  • Knowledge of/experience with natural and organic foods

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong time management and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with internet software, data management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software

  • Excellent communication including written, verbal, and listening skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Knowledge of WFM policies, procedures, products, stores, vendors, culture, and marketing
