Pearson, the world's leading learning company, is currently seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to support our Clinical Assessment division. We are particularly noted for our gold-standard assessment contributions in cognitive/ability, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, personality/psychopathology, achievement and speech/language. Noted brands include the Wechsler and Kaufman families of products, MMPI, BASC, OLSAT, CELF, and PLS. We're also revolutionizing clinical assessment through our innovative digital assessment platform, Q-interactive.
We are looking for a Senior Lead Engineer who has expert development skills and can mentor/guide an autonomous product development team. You will work closely with the product owners to evangelize test driven and agile development, assisting with promoting and evolving them within the organization.
You will design, develop and implement innovative/complex software products, using your strong technical skill-set and creativity. Your responsibility involves complex coding, debugging new software, or making enhancements to existing software, identifying new tools and technology. You will exercise your ability to make good judgment for selecting methods, technique and evaluation criteria that drive results.

Serve as an expert-level developer that can mentor/guide a team
Contribute collaboratively, designing innovative solutions that are architecturally solid and scalable
Responsible for specifying, architecting, prototyping, implementing, and delivering adaptive learning applications
Drive new feature development without requiring regular supervision
Work with Business Analysts to deliver complex configurable solutions
Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex software products
Code, debug, and make recommendations on software enhancements
Formulate complex systems scope and objectives
Participate in requirements gathering, definition and documentation
Analyze and solve conceptual and complex problems/situations of a global nature
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
10 years’ solid software development experience
Proven success at leading a team(s) of developers
Thorough understanding of the following tools: Java EE 6/7 (EJB, JPA, JSON)
Must have strong ability to create design documents, lead code reviews, and conduct unit testing
Experience working in Agile development environment
Knowledge of software performance, scalability, maintainability, reusability and security issues
Understanding of SOA environment; Enterprise Web Applications, and SSO
General understanding of software security, web services and XML parsing
Thrive in a creative and fast paced product development environment
Cloud based development – Chef or other automation frameworks are highly desirable!
REST API development, Bootstrap, HTML 5, CSS 3, Ember JS
2 years’ of software architecture experience
