Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager of Space & Assortment Analytics to join our Category Analytics Team. You will be part of a team responsible for delivering data-driven, actionable insights that contribute to the overall productivity of our stores. This position requires experience drawing conclusions from imperfect and incomplete data, application of various analytical techniques, and developing overarching micro and macro space strategies. Above all, you will help shape the strategic direction of category management by ensuring best analytical practices and techniques are used to provide Space and Assortment recommendations.

The Senior Manager of Space & Assortment Analytics is responsible for managing a team to deliver micro and macro space and assortment analyses to identify opportunities for more optimal use of store and planogram space to drive profitability.

This role will drive sales through optimized micro and macro space allocation and drive operational efficiencies through improved space allocation throughout the store.


  • Leads the development of standardized space and assortment analytics through ad hoc tools and methodologies.

  • Leads the integration of space and assortment analytics into the overarching category management processes throughout the purchasing organization.

  • Designs and explains various space and assortment evaluation methodologies.

  • Work with cross functional project teams including Purchasing, Marketing, Regional Operations, Inventory Planning, Replenishment, and Data Science, serving as the subject matter expert on Space & Assortment analysis and processes, participate in the discussion of business requirements and act as a leader of change management and assist the Purchasing teams’ training and development.

  • Integrate robust data analysis and variables to develop and maintain space and assortment strategies that reflects the category’s strategic vision, most optimal assortments, merchandising guidelines, capacity and size requirements.

  • Recommends assortment and space changes with category managers for revisions that directly contribute to improved category performance including but not limited to: Sales, Margin, and Turns.

  • Develops and works with analytical tools/teams to deliver upon ad hoc space productivity analysis.

  • Works collaboratively to ensure analyses are in alignment with strategic objectives and are executed in stores.


  • Ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business insights.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in space planning, field retail, merchandising, inventory management, or related role preferred.

  • Proficient skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Understanding of retail merchandising basics (ie, category management), and purchasing organizational structures and processes.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of purchasing team and leadership.

  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills.

  • Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude in all situations.
