Job Summary

The position is for a Network Enterprise Architect focused on the end-to-end creation to management of IT network architecture models and their lower level components. They must interpret, use, and apply information contained within IT architecture to inform a range of business improvement activities, particularly those involved in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of IT network support systems.

The Network Enterprise Architect is expected to ensure that the overall architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its security and quality. The primary role of the Network Enterprise Architect is to ensure that the respective business, application, data and technology perspectives are in line with the organization’s technology and governance strategies, policies and standards. The position will be ideally located in Austin, TX.

Main Duties

  • Leads in activities related to the design, development, and maintenance of the Network Architecture.

  • Researches overall solutions on the market for particular technical requirements and business needs.

  • Conducts and/or actively participates in meetings related to designated programs.

  • Advises and recommends architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies.

  • Recommends and participates in the analysis, evaluation and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the IT objectives are consistent with the enterprise’s long-term business objectives.

  • Shares best practices, lessons learned and constantly updates the technical architecture requirements based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming vendor products and solutions.

  • Participates in and manages Architecture Working Groups and acts as a mentor to peers & the team

  • Collaborates with all relevant parties in order to review the objectives and constraints of each solution and determine conformance with the existing network architecture standards. Recommends the most suitable technical architecture and defines the solution at a high level.

  • Identifies and recommends areas appropriate for further study and participates in any Proof of Concept projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural possibilities and strengthen arguments for their adoption.

  • Identifies implementation risks and analyses potential impact on the enterprise and on the achievement of scheduled objectives .

  • Recommends and participates in the design and implementation of IT service management standards, tools and methodologies.

  • Responsible for building financial cases for architectural directions: including the total cost of ownership and the return on investment of any proposed architecture/solution.

Shares knowledge and technical expertise through publishing, teaching and/or mentoring. Guides management on technical direction and participates in the analysis of emerging technologies.

  • Ability to identify opportunities spanning technical disciplines across product line and/or services. Recognized as a lead authority on key technology area. Identifies important emerging technologies, leads in analysis of their impact. Conceives and is instrumental in creating new projects or programs. Sustained and consistent contribution at the company services level. May include significant contributions to projects, processes, or business opportunities.

Company Information

The position will report to the Head of Telecom Services of HP Inc. The Head of Telecom Services will Report to the VP of Infrastructure Services, who will report to the CIO. The CIO reports to the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Management, who in turn reports directly to the HP Inc CEO. In this role, the CIO is responsible for the global information technology strategy and all of HP’s internal IT assets, including architecture, applications, data management, technology, telecommunication networks, and support and operations. Their primary focus is to enable a better experience for HP’s customers, partners and employees.

Essential Functions

  • Provide architectural direction to the company to leverage IT trends.

  • Develop and maintain current and planned network architectural blueprints.

  • Create plans to integrate business systems and workflows in support of business strategy.

  • Provide architectural consulting to programs, projects, and initiatives.

  • Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships

Other Duties:

  • Deliver requisite program documentation including program charters, schedules, requirements documents, specifications, design documents, and testing strategies.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience with between 3 and 5 years at the Master level with a consistent record of significant contribution level, leadership and impact to the High Performance Systems business, the company services technical community, and/or the industry.

  • Technical breadth and technical depth. Should be the recognized expert across company services in one or more fields. Should be able to solve large complex enterprise scale Information Technology (IT) problems and lead a technical team. Must be able to work effectively in multiple technical disciplines.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent technology degree required.

  • 10+ years of telecommunications / IT experience with global exposure.

  • Specialties: Voice and Data networks, UCC, DNS, Firewall, IPS, Proxy, LAN/WAN technologies, IPAM, and Data Center Network technologies.

  • Evangelist of HP story with a passion for the customers and partners.

  • Good at building rapport and key relationships with globally diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Proven track record in a dynamic and changing global environment.

  • Project Management skills required to own projects, track their progress, and follow them through to completion.

  • High amount of Teamwork required…become a model team member of any global projects we are engaged in, consistently providing high quality work.

  • Strong attention to details, analytical capability, and excellent verbal and written communications.

  • Ability to effectively work with and influence others, acting as a change leader.

  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively.

  • Experience with designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise voice and data networks.

  • Experience voice network and data networks design and troubleshooting.

  • Mastery of presenting complex solutions to a variety of technical and nontechnical audiences.
