Job Description:

Responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing new business processes that align to Category Management concepts in support of Whole Foods Market operations and procurement teams. This position requires cross functional collaboration, problem solving, and presentation skills, and knowledge of retail, grocery, and Category Management processes.


  • Review the WFM Category Management Roadmap and interview functional owners to identify process needs

  • Prioritize the development of new processes based on the urgency, scope, value, and dependencies of each

  • Coordinate and facilitate process development working sessions with subject matter experts

  • Partner with WFM Change Enablement team to document new processes in the proper formats, capturing goals, best practice steps, collaboration points, system utilization, timelines, dependencies, and owners

  • Partner with WFM Change Enablement team to determine training needs for each process; Lead the implementation of the training plans

  • Create a method to assess and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and develop strategies for enhancing these processes; Recommend alternatives or improvements, as needed

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of WFM purchasing, merchandising, operations, and marketing services and processes and how they intersect

  • Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market core values and goals. Mentor junior Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Extensive experience modeling large amounts of information within a business process framework using a variety of tools and techniques

  • Extensive experience planning and deploying business process initiatives

  • Strong aptitude to understand “the big picture” of business objectives and to know when business processes need to be applied

  • Ability to recognize operational issues within an organization, functional interdependencies, and cross-silo redundancies

  • Ability to assimilate and correlate processes to each other

  • Ability to articulate relevance of processes to the organization and to high priority business issues

  • Comfortable working with and ability to effectively present information to leadership that has a range of core skill sets from IT to procurement, operations, and marketing

  • Strong influence and change management skills, ideally within a large, transforming organization

  • Exceptional, proven, collaborative cross-functional team leadership

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations

  • Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities

  • Positive attitude, ability to work well and fast under pressure, exceptional customer service attitude

  • Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to multi-task as well as communicate and reset priorities amidst incoming ad hoc requests with short deadlines

  • Ability to deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Retail and grocery background and knowledge preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Ability to not disclose confidential information

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years' relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree strongly preferred
