Job Description:

This position will partner with the Regional Purchasing Teams to implement space planning in the departments as assigned. This position is specifically responsible for data analysis, SKU rationilization, creation of schematics, and defining store implementation processes with the goals of logical flow, highlighting value, reducing spoilage, driving sales, and improving margin. Requires extensive partnership with Regional Category Buyers and Coordinators, understanding of retail operations and excellent communication skills. Will work in conjunction with Regional Category Buyers, Coordinator, and Global Grocery team and report directly to the Coordinator, Global Space Planning. Will liaison extensively with the Regional and Global Grocery teams and regional Data team. Will focus on creation of schematics and projects as assigned. Must have excellent Excel skills and ability to quickly learn new software and reporting tools.


  • Implement and maintain schematics for the department as a part of the Regional space planning program. Analyze categories and provide this analysis to the Regional Buyers/Coordinators with goal of discontinuing slow moving items, introducing new items, creating/updating schematic and maximizing financial performance. Provide information to Buyers around discontinued items. (35%)

  • Own, oversee, and use discretion, judgment, and experience to manage all aspects of the Regional space planning program: Maintain planograms for the region as directed. Develop store specific planograms as requested. Hold review meetings for feedback on merchandising before finalizing. (25%)

  • Provide data to Teams (new items/discontinues) to facilitate resets/implementation of new schematics(10%)

  • Create and distribute Purchase Orders to vendors and stores as part of the Regional space planning program. (10%)

  • Audit and revise schematics, create order boards, and tag files for new stores. (10%)

  • Participate in regular Global Space Planning team meetings and national category review calls. (10%)

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • A high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of relevant functional experience preferred, including 2 or more years of related experience in field of Natural Food Grocery industry at intermediate leadership level or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to use phone, computer, headset.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze instructions, correspondence, technical procedures, financial reports, and category analysis.

  • Ability to interpret and analyze movement/volume reports, competitive analysis documents, and national SKU rationalizations/category trend data.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, ability to learn and work in space planning software and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to create effective written correspondence and reports

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questns inon, meeting/group participation/presentation situations involving Team Members, Team Leaders, Store/Facility Leadership, Regional Leadership, National/Global Leadership.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages, interpret graphs, analyze variance, calculate correlation, and analyze and understand margin analysis.

  • Ability to use all Microsoft Office Applications at an intermediate level, space planning software at an entry level, and Price File Management Systems at an entry to intermediate level.

  • Must be able to travel up to 15 % of the time, weekend shifts may be required on an as needed basis.

  • Work hours may vary covering 5 days per week; Position requires flexibility for all schedules.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to make significant decisions independently.

  • Exceptional communication skills are a primary need.

  • Strong organizational follow through.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and implement improvements.
