HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Speech Therapist (NICU) - Part-Time w/Rotating Weekends in Austin, Texas
Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor. Provides clinical services to patients with communication, cognitive and/or swallowing impairments according to professional standards. Coordinates with team, patient, family to develop a goal-directed program. Must maintain records of services provided. Responsible for following department procedures, maintaining professional standards and seeking professional growth.
*Knowledge & Skills:
May use computer word-processing program and therapy hardware and software. Works closely with other professionals, patients, and families in goal-directed interdisciplinary team approach. Verbal and written communication with in-house staff, physicians, patients and family members. Handles confidential information regarding patient records. Able to read and comprehend medical and technical material. Seeks approval for decisions outside standard policies. Must be able to prioritize duties and responsibilities. Must be able to deal effectively with high stress or high demand situations, showing flexibility and good judgment in problem solving. Maintains regular, predictable attendance. Patient ranges from infant to geriatric. Must pass competency checklist as outlined in program policy. Will participate and promote positive team interactions to ensure quality patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required: Master's level education in speech-language pathology.
Experience: Preferred: One year rehabilitation and/or acute care hospital clinical experience.
Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or current Clinical Fellowship Plan approved by ASHA. Eligible for Texas licensure in speech pathology; CPR certification
