Savage Services Maintenance Helper in Baytown, Texas

The Maintenance Helpers primary responsibilities include general labor duties including but not limited to wash down and maintenance of coke handling system. Check fluid levels and change rollers throughout conveyor system and clean out of Coke process filters. Crosstrain on operation of equipment. The person filling the Maintenance Helper Position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor

  • Work with Maintenance personnel on completing maintenance task on coke handling equipment

  • Operates heavy equipment such as Forklift, Skid steer and Man lift

  • Completes and maintains accurate records related to maintenance activities performed on handling equipment

  • Cross-trains with Operations personnel on operation of Coke handling systems

  • Lifts approximately 0-50 lbs. occasionally

  • Lifts approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly

  • Climbs stairs and work at various heights

  • Other duties may be assigned

    • Must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a hair-follicle drug screen, and currently possess a TWIC card
  • 18 years of age or older

  • Must be able to pass ExxonMobil site specific training on an annual basis

  • The ability to work from written and verbal instructions

  • Must be able to work as a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules

  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others

  • Able to work overtime and call-outs as required

  • Can follow all rules and procedures as outlines by Savage

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English

  • High School diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

Successful candidates must be willing to work at heights as well as climbing stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in an environment containing coke dust and in hot, cold, and wet environments. Must have the ability and willingness to perform the essential physical functions of the position. A significant part of each shift will be spent working with maintenance personnel and cleanup of work areas. They must be willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment which could include a respirator and fall protection harness.
