ExxonMobil Sustainability Engineer in Baytown, Texas

Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Chemical Company now has multiple openings for a Sustainability Engineer. The Sustainability Engineer provides technical expertise to support the Chemical Company’s aim to become an industry leader in Sustainability. The candidate should have an Engineering or Science degree and some background in Sustainability science, Life Cycle analysis or Environmental sciences. The Sustainability Engineer is required to effectively interact with technology leaders, business leaders and third parties in providing technical guidance for the company’s Sustainability initiatives.

Primary Functions

  • Work with business, technology and manufacturing resources to identify and optimize sustainability aspects of chemical products, end-use applications and end-of-life options.

  • Work independently or with third parties to generate technically sound life cycle analyses on ExxonMobil products and processes, and interpret results.

  • Provide technical content to support company advocacy initiatives.

  • Interact with technical leaders to analyze active portfolio and next-up program proposals for Sustainability impact.

  • Represent ExxonMobil in external consortia and industry advocacy groups.

  • Actively monitor industry state-of-the-art technology and innovations and proactively bring opportunities to the attention of Management.

  • Provide technical assistance for business response to customer concerns or questions.

  • Provide training of other employees in Sustainability science.

Job Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Engineering or Science with some background in Sustainability science.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Ability to interact positively with both internal and external parties.

  • High initiative; capable of setting work goals and activities with minimal direction.

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA Modeling Tools such as SimaPro, GREET, etc.) is ideal but not required.

  • Understanding of “Systems” Engineering and how systems work

  • Personal interest in Sustainable development
