DutiesMajor Duties

The selected candidate will serve as the Clinic Director in the Michael E Debakey VA Medical Center's Beaumont Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The selected physician will serve as both the clinic director and provide comprehensive clinical care to a panel of adult patients, from young adult to elderly. The physician will provide clinical direction to his/her clinic team to optimize patient health and work seamlessly with multidisciplinary team members. The physician and his/her team will support Veteran health care goals and patient satisfaction. The selected physician will achieve quality care standards, order appropriate diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services and document care in computerized/electronic medical records. The selectee will provide team guidance in patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence using the VA's Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) ‘medical home' model. The incumbent will be responsible for insuring clinic operations, supporting and leading clinic staff in implementing Veteran's Health Administration and MEDVAMC'S initiatives and achieving organizational goals. The physician selectee will support hiring, orientation, retention and evaluation of physicians, physician assistants and advanced practice nurses.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; may include extended hours and weekends. Alternate work schedule may be available. Functional Statement Title: Physician - Director, Primary Care - Beaumont Outpatient Clinic

Qualifications And EvaluationQualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
