Clinical Pastoral Education Resident is responsible for ministry to the spiritual and emotional, and relational health needs of all patients, families, and staff regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, or religious preference. Department of Ministry and Mission, provides pastoral service to the patients/families/residents/clients in the Valley Baptist Health System and participates in peer groups for training and supervision in an accredited ACPE program with Valley Baptist Health System. The Resident will work to meet Level I outcomes as listed in the CPE Student Handbook under ACPE Standards.
The Clinical Pastoral Education Resident gains increasing skills as an interfaith spiritual care provider within the clinical and classroom learning environment and applies those competencies to his/her practice on a daily basis. The clinical Pastoral Education Resident completes the tasks and learning objectives of his/her designated clinical unit of ministry and develops quarterly goals for improving performance upon consultation with the CPE Supervisor and/or department Director. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited college or university with at least 300 hours of volunteer services or professional work in spiritual care experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited college or university. Graduate academic/professional degree from an accredited theological school. Master of Divinity or its equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: May range from seriously entertaining a call to vocational ministry to years as a parish/congregational minister.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Demonstrates potential for achieving competency in Level I and Level II CPE. Engages in action-reflection model of learning. Demonstrates the capacity to develop professional and personal spiritual care relationships. Engages in reflective listening, empathic responses, and respectful interactions with individuals from multi faith, multicultural backgrounds.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Ordination or endorsement for ministry by a recognized religious body. Meet requirements for admission to CPE program.
