Summary of Desired/Required Experience:
At least 3 years relevant experience in public or corporate accounting.
Knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience in financial and regulatory reporting.
Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
Position requires good written and oral communication skills.
Strong work ethic that supports a willingness to handle multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
Ability to manage work flow to meet strict internal and external deadlines.
Good standing in current and previous employment
Draft disclosures in compliance with GAAP and FCA Regulations.
Ensures ongoing Association compliance with Regulations regarding Internal Control over Financial Reporting (SOX).
Serves as a liaison to internal/external auditors throughout the testing of financial controls and request made by auditors throughout the year. Ensures proper documentation of financial controls are in place for compliance with SOX 404 and the identification of process deficiencies and remediation.
Stays abreast of changes in FCA regulations and GAAP including methods for implementation for the Association.
Performs additional special projects as needed maintaining professional objectivity.
Implements a program that ensures accuracy of documentation of business processes and information technology programs relevant to financial reporting.
Develops and implement strategies for all activities relating to compliance with SOX 404.
Manages daily operations in support of financial controls testing for compliance with SOX 404.
Identifies internal control deficiencies and makes recommendations for improvements.
Assist employees on identified deficiencies to determine that appropriate remediation has been made.
Serves as liaison between team members and internal or external auditors.
May develop and conduct SOX compliance training for employees.
Maintains a current status of developments related to matters of interest to the financial reporting function, such as evolving practices and pronouncements by the FASB, FCA, and COSO.
Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and share information gained with teammates.
Perform other activities designated by senior accounting leadership.
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or comparable experience required
Professional certification (CPA or CIA) desired
Skill in assessing the effectiveness of internal controls over key risks, identifying significant exposures, analyzing transactions and information, and detecting changes in key risks and/or control effectiveness;
Specific knowledge of accounting principles, and regulatory agency (such as the Farm Credit Administration) guidelines, regulations and standards.
Knowledge of COSO 2013 framework for of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting.
Ability to perform project management responsibilities, including managing multiple tasks in different areas of the Associations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
Ability to use various tools, such as electronic work papers, risk assessment tools, process mapping, internal control questionnaires, financial estimation, analytical reviews, and data analysis.
Proficient in a Windows environment using various Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, Internet Explorer, and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries, and analyses.
