Job Description

Under limited supervision, assists mechanical engineers in the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.

  • Tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.

  • Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.

  • Reviews project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing.

  • Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data.

  • Helps prepare proposals and cost estimates, work load to establish completion dates.

  • Typically requires at least 5 year experience.

  • Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.


  • Set up and test prototype HVAC units and sub-assemblies

  • 1 or 2 year degree in HVAC and possess experience in testing and development of air conditioners and heat pumps, and/or

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 2 years related experience with a working knowledge of heat transfer and air performance.

  • Skill set requirements include EPA Certification for refrigerant handling

  • Excellent brazing skills, strong HVAC troubleshooting skills

  • Strong oral and written communications skills and solid computer skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Additional desired skills include working knowledge of AHRI 210-240, AHRI 340-360, UL-1995 and ISO 17025 standards
