HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Financial Analyst in Conroe, Texas

Under the supervision and direction of the Controller, the Financial Analyst is responsible for performing routine accounting functions that directly impact the organization’s financial performance. Certain of these tasks are the sole responsibility of the Financial Analyst, while others provide assistance to the Controller and other members of the Accounting Team in the accomplishment of overall departmental and hospital goals.

    2. Prepares numerous journal entries that form the basis of the monthly financial closing process. 3. Monitors status and accuracy of monthly statistical reporting processes. Identifies discrepancies and directs Accountants in the resolution thereof. 4. Responsible for the generation of routine, monthly financial reports, as well as those requested on an ad hoc basis. Reports are extracted from a multitude of source systems. 5. Performs monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure the integrity of financial statement reporting.
  2. Understands the flow of transactions and reporting mechanisms that define the

    overall Accounting and Accounts Payable functions.
  3. Understands the flow of transactions and reporting mechanisms that comprise the overall Payroll function.

  4. Assists Controller and Accounting staff with formulation of departmental Operating and Capital Budgets. Provides guidance and support to department managers in review of their monthly budgets.

  5. Prepares workpapers to assist Reimbursement staff in filing annual Medicare/ Medicaid Cost Reports.

  6. Prepares workpapers to facilitate Internal Audit staff in their review of internal control procedures and the integrity of the financial statements. Researches and resolves a variety of questions posed by the Auditors.

  7. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

  8. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of HCA Accounting principles and practices. Understands daily accounting transactions and anticipates their impact on the financial statements.

  9. Utilizes available computer systems and software applications effectively and efficiently. On an as-needed basis, instructs other Accounting staff members in the use of these systems, including, but not limited to, HOST, Kronos, PLUS , SMART, Business Objects, Decision Support and Remark.

  10. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills necessary to fulfill position duties and responsibilities.

  11. Maintains awareness of current trends, changes, regulations and legislation in the Accounting and Healthcare industries.

    A. Bachelors degree in Accounting / Finance.. B. Experience in mainframe and PC-based reporting systems preferred.

    C. Minimum of two years of healthcare accounting experience preferred.
