Job Summary: This position is located in Killeen, TX.

The Unit Director provides mechanical assistance to all buildings within the specified boarding school properties. Assists in repairs, maintains and assists in any problem solving issues of the plumbing or electrical systems for the school. Supervises and manages the performance of the employees and also manages the client’s expectations. You are responsible for successfully coordinating all work activities of the maintenance personnel. You must also have the ability to supervise, direct, and develop supervisors and hourly employees in accordance with company guidelines, and to ensure customer satisfaction through high quality standards, while maintaining an environment that is safe and equitable.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains electrical equipment and outlets.

  • Provides lighting by maintaining electrical lighting fixtures.

  • Provides support by responding to requests for mechanical, plumbing and electrical problems.

  • Complies with electrical and building codes by adhering to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking material stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for material; reviewing and approving invoices.

  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Enhances facilities services and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Maintain clean and safe work environment; performs job safely.

  • Maintains maintenance staff schedules and responsibilities.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred.

  • Certifications in any of the following are highly preferred: HVAC, electrical or plumbing.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions in stressful situations.

  • Strong customer service skills required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.

  • Creative problem solving skills.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot/fix various problems or issues.

  • Must be mechanically inclined/tech savvy.

  • Must have clean driving record & a valid Driver’s License.
