Administrative Resident – Physician Practice – HealthTexas Provider Network (HTPN)
The Administrative Resident Training Program is periodically offered to a recent graduate who has completed a bachelor’s or master’s program in Business or Healthcare Administration. The Administrative Resident will be assigned a mentor who is an experienced Practice Administrator and will work closely with their direct manager, the VP of Corporate Services.
The purpose of the HTPN Administrative Resident Program is to develop future healthcare leaders through training and experiential development. The program is intended to develop graduates with a comprehensive set of knowledge, experience, and skills to be ready to assume a role within a complex health care organization.
The program will include the following components:
Participating in strategic training Initiatives:
Completing the BSWH Orientation, which focuses on the vision, mission, and values and key programs of the BSWH organization, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas
Attending the HTPN Orientation Program to become familiar with HTPN’s organizational structure, strategic priorities, and core businesses and services
STEEEP Training (BSWH’s quality improvement program)
Leadership development programs
Participating in rotations through all HTPN Departments
Attending HTPN Operations meetings and Physician Practice meetings
Job shadowing leaders in the Practice Administrator role
Participating in Practice Administrator teams or workgroups
Other exposure to the Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) System
Expectations of the Administrative Resident:
Complete all Program Components (above)
Complete recommended reading list of periodicals, newsletters and books to provide further orientation to leadership development, health care programs and issues, and the BSWH organization
Completion of a large project relevant to the Practice Administrator role
The Administrative Resident program will include time working in the Practices, alongside an experienced Practice Administrator. The working role will provide exposure to all responsibilities in the Practice Administrator role including analyzing and communicating financial reports, performing daily processes to run the practice, communicating with physicians, working with patient satisfaction metrics, recruitment and hiring, and understanding and communicating physician compensation models.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, MBA, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or other healthcare-related degree.
