Verizon Data Security Network Engineer in Dallas, Texas
The Data Security Network Engineer will focus onDesign network elements to protect users from undesired or illegal real-time sessions. You’ll support network analysis for effectiveness of user tools and capabilities, while working with Peers to trace back to identify bad actors, including protocol analysis, process, and procedure.
Participation in Industry forums as necessary.
Create design decisions regarding the introduction of new products, product enhancements, and infrastructure changes.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the existing voice and voice over IP network including the functionality of all of the network elements and the system-level interactions between them.
Design solutions that add value to Verizon’s customers or reduce operating costs while ensuring that the service to the existing customer base is not negatively impacted.
Plan Technical concept issues, implementation (including cost and benefit analytics), and deliver technical documentation (NPR (New Project Request), Approach Document (description of design approach for initial assessments), High-Level Design Document (end-to-end design for internal consumption), Test Requirements Document (request to lab for testing of the design), Low Level Design Document, and First Office Application (FOA) Plan.
Communicate at a Technical level while mentoring and guiding less senior technical staff members both inside and outside of the planning organization.
Provide support for field issues when they cannot be resolved via the operations teams and vendors (i.e., Assist Operations in resolution of network issues Tier 4 support).
Create patents or working with legal teams in patent litigation.
Present materials to executive management.
Serve on technical panels to determine direction for the network as a whole (e.g., what standards to adhere to etc.).
Brief Legal and Regulatory regularly - including Director or Executive Director level summarized information including timelines, execution risks, cost to the business, and recommended path forward.
Lead a team of "detailed trace back" – utilizing detailed IP and SIP real-time Voice protocol knowledge.
Use toolsets such as AGILENT, PYTHON SCRIPTS, and SIP/GEOPROBE.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experiences.
Extensive experience in Tier 1 Wireless Service Provider, service design, and introduction of new products/designs.
Experience with Tier I Network Core Design, AGILE/ITERATIVE design, IETF/ATIS standards process, delivery of Formal Technical Documentation and requirements documents.
Sample technical documentation, oral presentation of technical material, and working-level formative documents will be requested.
Experience in SIP Headers and call handling, Trace back (protocol and tools), STIR/SHAKEN/PKI, MSC, CSCF, TAS, TDM, Call Processing, Flows, Call Detail Report.
Ideally, you will also have:
Programmatic thinking (Python, C+) basics, Mobile Handset operation, Internet Protocol (basic layer 2 and 3) including switching, routing and firewalls, legacy voice networks including wireline and wireless, Voice over IP including SIP, RTP, codecs, architectures/platforms - Session Border controllers, application servers, proxies, redirect servers, Call Gapping / Blocking Logic, ENUM, back-to-back user agents, VoIP gateways, IMS.
Specific knowledge of primary vendors - Oracle, GENBAND, Sonus, Broadsoft, Netnumber, Ericsson, Tektronics, Tekelec, and Netscout.
Working knowledge of multiple network components on the Verizon Business and Verizon Telecom network and Verizon Wireless Network.
