Baylor Scott & White Health Director of Campus Planning in DALLAS, Texas

Responsible for long-term campus planning, client relationships and BSHW real estate strategic planning needs. This position focuses on developing a trusted advisor relationship and will work closely with system and hospital administration to update real estate master plans (campus layout and interior adjacencies) for multiple hospital campuses and ensure that all real estate projects are integrated with client’s strategic business plan on a system-wide basis and at the campus/entity level.

  • Assure that the client’s strategic business plan is effectively supported by all real estate projects

  • Integrate campus/entity business plans with BSWH Real Estate Master Plan

  • Review proposed projects for operational efficiency and appropriate departmental adjacencies

  • Categorize and identify space or land for utilization versus highest and best use

  • Actively communicate and coordinate with BSWH Real Estate, Project Management, Engineering, Facility Management, Transactions and Development Management

  • Leads Annual Capital Budgeting Process - Verifying Capital Projects Alignment with Planning efforts

  • Lead coordination of City and State infrastructure projects that impact campuses

  • Lead city interactions including rezoning or special use permitting

  • Support land evaluations prior to purchase

  • Consider impact of individual projects on the patient, family, employee and physician experience

  • At the request of the healthcare client, prepare and document suggestions regarding the capital funding process for real estate projects

  • Conduct quarterly interviews of client BU leaders to identify pending business direction related to growth, technology, payer mix, service offerings, market changes and other issues that could impact the clients business plan and related real estate requirements

  • Work with Space Planner to periodically update campus site plans

  • Maintain Real Estate drawing database and coordination of as-built documentation

  • Maintain Joint Commission Life Safety Documents standards

  • Collaborate with real estate team to (1) create processes to improve space utilization strategies and initial project definition, and (2) to reduce design and construction change orders

  • Coordinate design and finish standards with the healthcare system officer who is responsible for standardization

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field or equivalent

  • 8+ years of extensive healthcare facilities design, construction, renovation, development and project management experience

  • Or similar combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated qualifications in budget development and management, space utilization, and program coordination

  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills; strong verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to relate to executive level and department level healthcare executives and internal functions in a collaborative style

  • Must be detail oriented, analytical and computer literate

  • Demonstrated leadership/management skills

  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service

  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability

  • Knowledge of standard business and accounting practices
