As a member of the Corporate Strategy Team the Strategy Consultant Intern will be focused on supporting the Strategy team and business partners in the ongoing development and execution of the Company’s strategy.
The Strategy Consultant Intern will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to:
Utilizes the Company’s strategic planning methodology to provide thought leadership in the development of functional strategies.
Analyze data, gathering insights and modeling various futures quantitatively.
Interacts with SMEs and functional Leaders in support of Southwest’s vision “To be the World’s Most Flown, Most Loved, and Most Profitable Airline”.
Provides research & impact analysis on important strategic topics including competitive strategy (including M&A and Partnership Relationships) and disruptive trends.
The Intern may also be requested to perform other job duties as requested.
Bachelor's Degree required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a fulltime two-year MBA in Consulting, Strategy or other Business related field.
Planned graduation date between December 2017 and June 2018
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA
Strong communication and influencing skills required, including the capability of interacting directly with the executive leadership team.
2+ years of work in strategy, consulting, or related experience is required.
Experience in developing and delivering presentations is required.
Must have strong problem solving skills, including the ability to gather facts, conduct analysis, and translate data into meaningful insights
Experience with quantitative modeling tools is preferred.
Must have the ability to think across multiple time horizons, connecting the “big picture” and the “now”
Must have the ability to quickly learn new business areas and the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly
Experience working and problem solving with cross-functional teams is preferred
Must have the ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
Location and Pay:
This position requires authorization to work in the United States for any candidate without sponsorship
Pay of $5,400 per month, housing stipend of $1,200 (one time at program start), plus flight privileges.
This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters.
