Job Summary

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in all areas of Electrical Engineering. The Electrical Engineering Department at UT Dallas has over 50 faculty members, approximately 550 EE and 350 CE undergraduate students, more than 700 EE and 100 CE graduate students and offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering as well as MS and PhD degrees in Telecommunications Engineering. Areas of research expertise include microelectronics, photonics, communications, signal processing, analog electronics, power and energy systems, telecommunications and wireless networks, and control. Particular emphasis will be placed upon candidates at the Assistant Professor level having research expertise in the power and energy systems area (for example, power electronics, smart grids and electric vehicle technologies).

Tenure-system faculty are expected to teach graduate and/or undergraduate classes; work to develop or enhance a regional, national, or international reputation in the discipline through continued creative productivity or other professional achievement; and engage actively in the academic community through membership in governance bodies and committees, program planning and curricular development, and public service. Tenure-system faculty are eligible for Principal Investigator status on contracts and grants and will undergo annual and other periodic evaluation related to their faculty productivity and tenure or rank status. Faculty members should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, service, and active scholarship.

Minimum Education and Experience

Terminal Degree in the Academic Discipline or in a Related Discipline is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Earned PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and the evidence the potential to develop an externally funded research program. Candidates for the positions at the Associate or Full Professor level must have an outstanding record of scholarly and professional achievements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research in the field of expertise.

Prepare and teach a specified number of courses each semester.

Provide service to the department, university, and profession.
