Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading and training the Payroll team with Payroll processing and/or troubleshooting issues on a daily basis Administers all special Payroll runs independently from Regular payroll runs (i.e. benefit refund files, off-cycle commission and bonus payrolls and settlement payments Oversee accuracy of all wage withholdings, inactivating employees, and vacation (PTO) and sick time tracking. Escalate potential service issues to the Payroll Manager Assist corporate and field with electronic timekeeping through set-up to problem solving and reporting Ensure total payroll compliance, and resolve any state tax issues with assistance from the Payroll Manager/Director Provide backup coverage for Payroll processing due to high volume and/or PTO schedules The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentially Assist the Payroll Manager/Director with all company audits Work with Metroplex Mail on deposit file interfaces and special mailings Comply with applicable legal requirement, standard, policies and procedures including, but not limited to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct and HIPAA Maintains a commitment to the values and mission of the company
High school diploma and/or GED required College degree in Accounting/Business preferred or equivalent training and experience in a computerized payroll function in lieu of degree CPP Certification preferred Minimum 5-7 years’ experience performing all payroll functions for multiple payrolls in a fast-paced environment. 3 – 5 yrs. in a Lead and/or Senior level capacity. Multi-state payroll experience required. In-house Payroll administration experience required Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and web-based applications. Experience with Workday integrated products highly preferred. Also requires proven ability to perform manual payroll calculations without electronic system, as needed. Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws as well as overtime requirements Solid knowledge of payroll principles and best practices. Strong experience using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Solid mathematical skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines with timeliness and accuracy. Professional business image and superb command of the English language, both verbally and in writing (spelling, grammar, and punctuation). Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise great discretion. Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly. Sense of urgency. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions. Must be available during core business hours. Role may require overtime in order to meet critical deadlines
