The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) applies technical quality methods to evaluate, analyze, test and inspect in-process materials, production equipment, and finished products. The QCI ensures products are in compliance with both company operating procedures, quality standards, and applicable government regulations. The QCI compiles data for documentation of test procedures. The QCI ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed. The QCI assures compliance to internal and external specifications and standards. The QCI reviews data obtained for compliance to specifications and reports abnormalities. The QCI revises and updates standard operating procedures as needed. The QCI may participate in development of testing methods. Additional responsibilities include:
Inspects complicated assemblies, subassemblies, and/or pieces requiring knowledge of functioning and interrelationships. Reads and interprets complicated blueprints and specifications. Performs critical first-piece inspection. Determines unstated or hidden dimensions from a blueprint, working with fractions, decimals, and trigonometry. Monitors and audits SAP transactions; identifies and resolves data discrepancies. Receive to ship (RTS) functions.
Material handling including but not limited to: loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
Uses mechanical and electrical measuring tools (including Auto Bagger). Mechanically or electrically sets up instruments for inspection. Calibrates measuring instruments using standards.
Authorizes commencement of production.
Analyzes product or process trends and makes corrective recommendations. Identifies causes of rejects and follows them for corrective action. Makes field trips to investigate problems.
Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement: High School Diploma or GED. Some College preferred.
Coursework and/or Certification(s): May require forklift or HAZMAT certification. DSQR, PIT certification preferred.
Required: Approximately 2 to 4 years of related experience
