Responsible for the CRM/EP sales of Company products within an assigned geographic region to accomplish planned objectives as to sales volume, market penetration, and profitability. Fully accountable for all performance metrics of quality, cost and delivery. Responsible for leading, facilitating, and directing the activities of subordinates. Promotes the process of continuous quality improvement and coordinates solutions for technical and personnel issues. Troubleshoots relatively complex problems. Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status. Uses best business practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility. Ensures employee compliance with St. Jude Medical/USD policies and practices.
Responsible for direct supervision of CRM/EPsales and clinical teams in region.
Responsible for the recruitment and managementof field sales and clinical teams and ensures they operate within thescope of SJM’s corporate policies and procedures.
Establishes regional and territory goals andensures that goals are achieved and results are measured
Manages regional forecast and OPEX to ensure that region functions within thefinancial guidelines set forth by SJM.
Manages the flow of corporate messaging to thefield level to ensure consistency across regional lines.
Maintains high level of contact with key accountexecutives and physician KOL’s and is integral in the contracting andcapital sales process.
Works with each sales representative to developa detailed comprehensive sales territory plan of action.
Establishes regionalsales goals/forecasts for CRM and EP franchises and involves field salesand clinical teams in the process, assigns each representative with asales plan/quota monthly/quarterly/yearly.
Establishes and maintains strong relationshipswith key hospital administrators and physicians and facilitates pricing,contracting, capital purchase programs within key accounts.
Works closely with field clinical team to ensureresearch programs are targeted in the appropriate regional accounts
Manages the collaboration of SJM Divisionalpartners and Enterprise Accounts within region to maximize the “one SJM”message and leverage all of SJM’s divisions to drive value with ourcustomers. Forecast quarter sales in accurate up to date format.
May make personal calls on major accounts or prospects.
May present bids and proposals to customers.
Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, as well as industry trends.
Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.
Performs related functions and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Accountable for providing direction, guidance and assistance to sales representatives within assigned region, particularly with targeted accounts. Assignments are received in results-oriented terms. Has authority to plan and direct work and is accountable for successful accomplishment of work assigned to the group (within defined areas). Responsible for staffing special assignments. Accountable for meeting assigned sales commitments. May provide input to engineering, quality assurance and/or institutional standards, practices, procedures and policies. Decisions and recommendations have significant impact on assigned projects and/or operations. Acts as an advisor to staff in developing solutions to problems. May recommend solutions to complex personnel, administrative and technical issues. Ensures adequate scheduling and staffing to accomplish objectives.
Relationships: Describe contacts and purpose of relationships.
Internal: In addition to sales representatives, interfaces with Regional Sales Directors and other Regional Sales Managers to collaborate on approaches to new business, bids, and issues involving more than one Region. Establishes the working relationships both among sales personnel and customers/targeted accounts to convey information/clarify requirements. Can commit own group to tasks. Maintains continuous contact with customers. Ensures development of high-performance teams within Region Sales area.
External: Interfaces with physicians, nurses, CATH Laboratory, hospital administrators and others, to provide information, training and support.
Works with standard office equipment such as telephone, fax machine and copier, and a personal computer with standard and specialized office software for use in determining product availability, tracking sales, etc. Demonstrates company products to current and potential customers and to sales representatives for educational/training purposes.
This is a field-based position and requires frequent travel including overnights. Also spends a significant amount of time in other offices, customer facilities, various lodgings, commercial transportation vehicles, personal automobile, and subject to weather variations while in a travel mode.
Activities require significant amount of talking and listening, some sitting, walking and standing to interact with customers and conduct training/educational programs. Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, and manual and finger dexterity to write, telephone, use computer keyboard, use office equipment, plus manual, leg and foot dexterity to drive a vehicle, as well as good eyesight and good hand and eye coordination in all of these pursuits. Requires the ability to speak and hear clearly. Lifting and/or force requirements up to approximately 25 lbs. may be required on occasion.
Required: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Health Sciences, or equivalent and typically four plus years of progressively more responsible sales and training experience with cardiac medical devices. Requires leadership skills/experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this management position. Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up, and team building. Has direct knowledge about physicians in the CRM medical market. Seasoned judgment acquired through organizational experience and achievements applying state-of-the-art sales principles. Documented record of delivering sales information which adds value to management's decision making process. Demonstrated verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Must be able to perform basic level arithmetic calculations, including ratios, rates and percentages; draw and interpret graphs; apply the principles of rational systems to solve practical problems; effectively deal with a variety of tangible variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, diagrammatic or schedule form. Must have an advanced working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as, e-mail, Microsoft Office, graphics software, etc..
Desired: An advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration. Professional certification or designation. A demonstrated understanding of cardiac medical device technology.
