Job Description

Summary: Senior member of a team that supports the desktop and infrastructure technology needs for all American Airlines operations throughout the domestic US and MCLA region. Plans, directs and manages technology projects of varying size, including new airport startups, reservation and administrative office moves, airport construction projects, and airport relocations.

Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivery and implementation of all AA information technology solutions that meet the needs of the business operations. This role is responsible for managing project budgets, project timelines, identifying and assigning resources, and ensuring quality of technology deliverables. Must be able to build and maintain alliances in order to reach effective solutions across multiple departments. Must be able to view issues from a broad perspective and help develop and implement strategies to drive improvement in technical solutions.


  • Deliver technology solutions to business operations as needed

  • Build positive relationships with all AA business units and external vendors

  • Advocate for AA Technology Standards

  • Match the customer’s business requirements with construction deadlines and available technologies

  • Submit orders for infrastructure changes and additions per appropriate processes

  • Use automated tools for managing people and financial resources

  • Plan and manage project forecasts and spend

  • Backup project managers in other regions as assigned

  • Host conference calls and coordinate meetings with all stakeholders including all levels of management as needed.

Job Qualifications


The successful candidate would have:

  • 7+ years of experience managing airport technology projects from very small to very large

  • Strong knowledge of all airport related information technology platforms and their associated infrastructure experience managing remote resources, including external providers

  • Ability to make quick decisions, and anticipate project risks proactively across multiple projects, while maintaining high standards of performance

  • successful project management experience with an emphasis on infrastructure deployment in a cross-functional, tightly managed technology environment

  • Ability to blend creativity, problem solving and technical skills to develop approaches that meet the business and Technology constraints

  • Ability to lead and motivate teams to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems

  • Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport and gains understanding from both technical and non-technical audience

  • proficiency in airline industry business processes, standard tools and techniques

  • Ability to communicate status, schedules and needs to IT and business clients as well as ensure that plans and standards are adhered to

  • demonstrated capability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Strong customer focus and client expectations management

  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills required

  • High degree of initiative and motivation

  • Attention to detail (both technically and from a structured project management perspective)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
