Territory Underwriter


TX, Dallas


AmTrust is searching for a motivated individual to join its Dallas underwriting operation. This person will be responsible for underwriting multiple lines of business for agents and brokers located in the South Central region of the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate, accept, reject, price and service commercial insurance policies within accepted company procedures and guidelines.

  • Analyze commercial lines accounts to make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls

  • Determine class fit of small business accounts across our targeted commercial lines of business. Targeted commercial lines of business include auto, business owners (BOP), general liability (GL), property, umbrella and workers’ compensation line of business.

  • Review and determine plan of action for renewals utilizing loss control inspections, loss experience reports and third party data providers

  • Evaluate pricing and coverage to ensure premiums charged are commensurate with the exposure based on company procedures and guidelines

  • Build productive and positive relationships with assigned agents

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience in a similar environment

  • One or more years multi-line underwriting experience

  • Strong analytical ability and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently to carry out assignments
