Toyota's Vehicle Marketing and Communications Department is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Vehicle Marketing and Communications (VMAC) Planner.
The primary responsibility of this role is to be the subject matter expert for a vehicle series.
Reporting to the series’ Vehicle Marketing and Communications Manager/National Manager, the person in this role will support the Vehicle Marketing and Communications department’s objectives by creating and executing fully integrated strategic and tactical communication plans for their responsible series including cross-organizational alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
Depending upon the series team, a Planner’s key responsibilities could include some or all of the following:
Act as Toyota Division subject matter expert for a vehicle series and its market segment competitors
Maintain continuous, 360-degree understanding of series features, specifications, buyers, communications targets and segment dynamics Formulate strategy development, tactical planning, and daily marketing operations for responsible series including:
Creation of fully integrated communication plans and product launch and sustainment strategies and tactics
Provide point of view on annual sales plan development
Monitor vehicle pipeline and grade mix targets, and interface with sales regions to develop grade mix forecasts
Provide point of view on vehicle incentives to optimize sales and profit
Develop and implement series common language to inform vehicle brochures, Monroney (vehicle content) labels, Toyota.com, dealer training materials, press releases, etc
Develop, maintain, and distribute vehicle reports including Early Buyer Studies, 15-month trend reports, executive summaries, and other ad hoc reporting as needed
Direct or support key product launch milestone events, including: Initial Discovery Trips, Study Teams, Field Updates, National Dealer Meeting, and others
Work with the Product Planning Department to manage product lifecycle planning including grade, specifications, and package strategy development for responsible series in order to optimize competitive market position and achieve sales volume, market share, and profit objectives
Administer development and successful execution of marketing assets including broadcast, online video (including pre-roll), print, digital, search, out of home, and brochure content in partnership with advertising agencies and internal stakeholders
Interface with agency teams and provide project management oversight for campaign and creative asset development, ensuring process milestones and budget requirements are achieved Ensure all outputs tie to vehicle strategy, key product highlights, product cadence, and target consumer insight Align internal stakeholders to business and campaign objectives, strategies, briefs, and creative executions Serve as single point of contact for an integrated view of all series-specific Required A successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree or higher Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), mainframe databases, data cross-tabulation software (including mTab), BrioQuery, or demonstrated competency to quickly learn and use these tools Demonstrated high performance in three or more of the following areas:
Analyzing research and/or data to create actionable insights/business cases Developing clear and compelling marketing or advertising strategies Creating vehicle grade/package mix and pricing strategies Partnering with agencies and key stakeholders in the development of advertising campaigns Creating business or communication KPIs and determining tracking methodologies Evaluating creative executions for alignment to strategy Experience in advertising, marketing, sales, distribution operations, pricing, product and/or corporate planning, or consumer insights Proven skills in developing consensus with internal and external stakeholders via business acumen focused communication Demonstrated success in a fast paced, high workload environment Demonstrated skills in collaboration, strategic thinking, analytics, written and verbal communications, organization, attention to detail, planning and innovation The ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 15% of the time Preferred A successful candidate may have:
MBA or advanced business degree Automotive related work experience Familiarity with key market data sources (examples: advertising effectiveness studies, vehicle registrations databases, and consumer research studies) or have demonstrated competency to quickly learn and use these tools
