University of North Texas - Faculty Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Denton, Texas

Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of History at the University of North Texas seeks applications for a full-time tenure-line faculty position at the rank of assistant professor or tenured associate professor (preferred).

Responsibilities include conducting a vigorous research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising graduate training, and serving on departmental committees. The successful candidate will direct graduate research, be an integral part of UNT's Military History Center, and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in History or a closely related field.

  • A research concentration in modern U.S. military history (strategic, operational, and tactical)

  • Ability to offer intensive graduate and undergraduate courses on the Second World War, Korea, Vietnam and the wars of the 21st century, focusing on foreign policy, strategy, operations, and tactics

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the rank of advanced assistant or associate professor

  • An outstanding record of publication

  • An established reputation in the field

  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence

  • Ability to address all aspects of military power (ground, naval, air, nuclear and cyber) in undergraduate and graduate teaching
