Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks a Senior Lecturer of Language & Literacy Education, who will contribute to its initial teacher certification programs (EC-6 and 4-8) and to its Master's and doctoral concentrations within the M.Ed. and Ph.D. programs in Curriculum & Instruction. This appointment, which begins Spring 2017 or Fall 2017, is a non-tenure track, one-year appointment (with the possibility of renewal) at a salary that is competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. All standard University of North Texas, College of Education, and relevant Department of Teacher Education and Administration faculty personnel rules and procedures apply to this position.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester of the academic year (fall and spring). These courses will be in the teacher certification programs (grades EC-6 and 4-8) and the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction program with a concentration in Language & Literacy. There is a possibility of teaching in the Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction program with a concentration in Language & Literacy. Other responsibilities include contributing to program development and student support, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, and engaging in departmental and program-area initiatives. Summer school teaching is possible but is dependent on budget and demand.

Qualified candidates will have an earned doctoral degree with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours related to Literacy education. Also required is at least three years of teaching experience in grades EC-12.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a terminal doctoral degree in the Literacy field. Preference will also be given to those who have teaching experience with linguistically and culturally diverse students and those who have taught teacher education courses at the college/university level.
