Texas Tech University Assistant Professor or higher Tenure Track in El Paso, Texas

Position Description

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains rigorous, externally funded research programs
  • Contributes to the university’s missions through research, teaching and service
  • Teaches and mentors students, fellows, and other trainees
  • Participates in Cancer Center Activities
  • Engages in cancer research activities within the state of Texas and nationally
  • Faculty with clinical interests in oncology will be eligible for a secondary appointment in another Department in the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Required Qualifications

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-PhD, or equivalent degrees
  • Record of accomplishment in basic or translational cancer research
Preferred Qualifications
  • Individuals who are completing post-doctoral training, looking for an initial faculty position
  • Scientific expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas: cancer development and progression, experimental therapeutics, cancer biomarkers, cancer genomics or proteomics, particularly as related to breast, colon, lung, cervical, or prostate cancers
