HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Clinical Coordinator (RN)-CHF, FT Mixed in El Paso, Texas
Provides professional nursing care for hospital and Heart & Valve clinic patients following established standards and practices. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. As a Heart & Valve Clinical Nurse Coordinator, is involved in education of patients, families, physicians, and staff.
Maintain all aspects of clinic operations in conjunction with Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director.
Obtain medical history and physical data on patients.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed with approval from Nurse Practitioner or Medical Director.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Heart & Valve clinic program.
Assist with the development and implementation of standards and protocols for the care of patients in the Heart & Valve Clinic program.
Provide patient education. Interview and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
Provide clinical education to physicians and hospital personnel.
Participates in professional development activities and hospital committees as requested.
Participates in marketing and public awareness of the Heart & Valve clinic program.
Coordinates follow up patient care in conjunction with Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director.
Participates in CV multidisciplinary team.
Assists in the abstraction and submission of data for the STS/ACC TVT Registry.
Oversees, analyzes and trends data related to throughput of Heart & Valve clinic patients and provides data to the CVS Committee to initiate changes as appropriate and to improve processes and outcomes.
Promotes core measure compliance.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Specific: Heart & Valve Clinical Nurse Coordinator
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately)
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
BSN degree required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (list required and preferred separately)
Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Texas required.
Current certification in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.
Current certification in Critical Care preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: (list required and preferred separately)
Minimum of five years of cardiology experience required.
Critical care experience required.
Effective leadership, teaching, research and communication skills required.
Ability to demonstrate complex clinical skills within the framework of the advanced practice nurse.
Advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills required (Cardiac specific).
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments required.
Ability to assess medical conditions and interpret findings required.
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team required.
