The Critical Care Tech provides basic patient care under the direction of the RN/LVN in accordance with the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center.
POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, GI conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD, PVD, COPD, CHF ,metabolic disorders, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs, cardiac monitoring and basic EKG.
Participates in the unit based Quality Improvement process.
Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patients right to privacy and protection of patient’s confidentiality.
Plans, organizes and communicates changes in patient’s heart rate and rhythm to the Registered Nurse.
Monitors and documents EKG heart rate and rhythm for every monitored patient every 4 hours. PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS 1. BCLS Certified
- Passing of EKG Exam REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 year experience as an C.N.A
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Preferred clinical and technical skills appropriate to job.
