Position Description This position is responsible for providing primary ambulatory medical care. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. The person in this position works in a busy, pressured environment and sees a high volume of patients, as needed by TTUHSC.
Major/Essential Functions * Diagnoses and treats diseases and injuries of patients. * Orders or may conduct various tests, analysis and x-rays to provide information about patient's condition. * Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses patients condition. * Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs. * Interviews patients concerning their history, and records this information. * May perform minor surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency. * Refers patients to medical specialist within the HSC Ambulatory Clinics when appropriate and necessary. * Provides immediate care for medical emergencies of patients. * Provides general supervision to nursing staff. * Coordinates lectures, conferences and in-service training for medical staff within the department. * May conduct mini-courses or lectures for medical students on a specific subject.
Provide patient care for outpatient and/or other clinical psychiatric care services.
Other duties as assigned by the Chairman of the department.
Required Qualifications + Education: + Graduated from an approved accredited School of Medicine with an M.D. degree. + License/Certification: + * Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas. * Certificate or license for prescribing controlled substances. + Experience: + At least three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine.
M.D./D.O. and board certified in General Psychiatry
