About the Position: You will provide Tier II technical and security customer service and support to San Antonio Military Medical Center North (SAMMC-N) and San Antonio Military Medical System (SA-MMS) users regarding all facets of software and hardware support for the SAMMC-N IMD. This position is in the Information & Service Support Branch, Information Management Division, Brooke Army Medical Center located at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

You will provide Tier II technical and security customer service and support to San Antonio Military Medical Center North (SAMMC) and San Antonio Military Medical System (SAMMS) users regarding all facets of software and hardware support for the SAMMC IMD. You will perform all SAMMC IMD Customer Service Support Center (CSSC) duties and/or support for the SAMMC IMD Data Center, when required. You will investigate IT issues to determine the cause. You will define and isolates the specific problem, using available diagnostic and error recovery techniques. You will independently analyze and determine cause of malfunctions related to hardware, software, security or environment; initiates corrective action. You will resolve system, security, data integrity and access, and equipment problems referred by Tier I CSSC IT Specialists.

Degree: Successful completion of all the requirements for at least a Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Experience must be IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed:

Specialized experience is defined as: Work performing computer systems security support functions; setting up and maintaining system account restrictions and user rights. Preparing and forwarding network access requests. Experience working with: Active Directory Services, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), TCP/IP, Windows Office, Windows XP and XP Professional and Active Directory. Experience analyzing malfunctions related to hardware, software, security or environment; resolve system, security, data integrity and access, and equipment problems. Experience with investigating issues to determine cause; define and isolate problems using diagnostic and recovery techniques. Experience in ensuring security procedures and regulations are strictly followed in processing and controlling access to sensitive unclassified information, and Personal Health Information (PHI).
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

- Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) Performance Management and Measurement Methods
- Knowledge of Operating Characteristics of Computer Systems and Support System Software

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade (or equivalent).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate level degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution, must be related to the work of the position. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience or education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 hours (total semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position. You must include this information with your application package.
