Our Landing Systems Business Unit designs, tests and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems. As part of Landing Systems, our Landing Gear business is one of the largest suppliers of integrated landing gear systems in the world and has built its reputation on performance and innovation. The company provides landing gear for a wide range of commercial, regional, military and business aircraft applications, outfitting aircraft from most of the world’s major airframers.
We have an immediate need for an Production Planner at our Landing Gear facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Production Planner will be responsible for integrating the functions of Operations Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Production Control to generate the site production plan and develop and execute the production control strategy to meet the business plan. Scope of responsibility includes integration of incoming supply from other UTAS Landing Gear locations, incoming supply from external suppliers, managing work order releases, monitoring and reporting shortages, maintaining inventory accuracy, processing work orders for offload operations, and reporting OTD, forecasting OTD, developing burn down plans, and forecasting sales.
Duties and responsibilities of this role include:
Conduct Delivery Assurance:
Ensure on-time delivery of material and mitigate risks for short-term shortages with internal and external suppliers to ensure successful customer delivery.
Liaison between Production Control at other UTAS LS sites and Fort Worth Stockroom / Warehouse to communicate incoming part supply.
Facilitate expedite of filling critical part shortages to released WO’s.
Support the assembly lines with expedite requests for removal and replacement of defective hardware.
Update and maintain site production tracking and reporting tools / visual metrics.
Release assembly planning to support production and spares schedules which align with the goods inventory management strategy; schedule and execute assembly kit pulls; close orders upon shipment.
Deliver to internal customers (Assembly Managers and Supervisors) the production plan, work orders, and released kits for assembly to meet on-time delivery targets and internal/external customer commits.
Create frozen daily schedule – ensure alignment of manpower capacity, part supply, dock schedule, etc. to ensure capacity meets demand.
Manage excess and obsolete inventory: manage E&O inventory thru management of shelf life items and execution of inventory burn down plan.
Conduct On-Time Delivery root cause and corrective action meetings with Operations, Program Management, and Supply Chain.
Manage Operational SAP Health Metrics to acceptable site performance measures; issue weekly status reports on open Work Orders – total open orders, total past due orders, total past due orders greater than 30 days, and weekly on-time delivery performance.
Identify long term capacity constraints and strategy, validate master schedule adherence, and define schedule based on machine and labor capacity planning.
Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the EHS policy and management system, the importance of conforming to EHS policies and procedures, and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and procedures.
Act as the ERP focal for site Operations.
Lead responsible processes in the achievement of ACE Gold.
Establish daily, weekly, monthly goals to achieve site macro plan objectives and site business plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.
