Jacobs Project Accountant in FORT WORTH, Texas

The Project Accountant reports to Accounting Manager and will establish, maintain and monitor individual project financial activity. An emphasis will be placed on contract adherence, monthly billing and revenue recognition along with monthly and quarterly project reconciliations. Activities will include, but are not limited to: project set-up, project maintenance, project closure, analytical review of individual project profit and loss statements and other special project activities as assigned.
Review Contracts and set-up/maintain projects in the Accounting System.
Review Contract for all terms and conditions with focus on accounting and compensation aspects.
Examine Project Set-up or modification requests for completeness and accuracy including proper authorizations and approvals.
Coordinate with Project Team to resolve any questions relating to the set-up or modification of the project.
Ensure compliance with our Accounting Policy regarding Project Set-ups.
Ensure proper project close-out procedures are followed when closing projects.
Ensure project revenue is recognized according with Contract and Accounting Policy.
Prepare and process client invoices that are compliant with contract terms and client specific needs and ensure they are properly entered into the accounting system.
Analyze and prepare monthly reconciliations explaining unbilled amounts or assessing potential revenue adjustments.
Track monthly unbilled amounts to ensure all projects are reviewed, billed and processed timely.
Coordinating with the Project Team to assess available fee or risk of financial exposure.
Attend monthly project review meetings and contribute to the financial elements of the project reviews.
Perform project analysis, reconciliations and reports as needed.
Assist managers with special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, however adequate experience may substitute
Project Accounting experience in an Engineering or Professional Services firm or experience in Job Costing preferred
Must be PC proficient in Windows environment to include Excel and Word.
Oracle Projects Software experience is preferred
Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills in order to communicate project financial activity to all levels of management required
Must be able to adhere to deadline required
Must be team oriented and be able to work independently as well as with a team required
