Job Description Accountabilities:

• Complete and approve account analysis and/or account reconciliations

• Prepare and approve accruals, pre-paid and other journal entries as required

• Participate in the preparation and review of government reports

• Provide tax accounting support as required

• Month-end financial closing and reporting process

• Responsible for the delivery of service levels and SLA/KPI targets for the accounting function

• Ensure accounting policies, processes and operating procedures are clearly defined, in line with group standards, up to date and documented

• Resolve accounting related issues as required

• Lead special projects and implement ideas for process improvements

• Ensure all Accounting processes comply with Novartis standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Novartis Accounting Manual, Novartis Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.)

• Serves as a liaison between Finance and FSC IT and Divisional ERP organizations by communicating efficiently with users, FSC management and IT teams.

• Keeps abreast of ERP best practices within Novartis and across industries

• Imparts ERP training to system users and keeps ERP training materials updated continuously

• Defines business requirements for ERP changes and documents ‘as-is’ business processes

• Acts as first line of support for users within Finance and provide initial diagnosis and, if possible, resolution for SAP Incidents to End-Users

• Triages and prioritizes system incidents and change request for delivery by the divisional ERP competence center

Minimum requirements


• Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance required, Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred CPA and/or CMA is preferred

• Continuous Improvement training preferred (i.e. Six Sigma)

• Strong command of the English Language

• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements

• Enterprise systems knowledge (SAP)

• Significant experience in financial accounting and reporting, auditing and financial process engineering, with record of strong control focus

• 4+ years of Financial experience, preferably in Big 4 public accounting, and the healthcare industry

• Experience working on process improvement projects preferred

• 2 years of experience working with outsourcing and/or shared services teams would be an asset
