Current NeedMcKesson Specialty Health is looking for a Staff Pharmacist to work within in our Care Advantage Specialty Pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX. The shift is Monday - Friday 10:30 AM - 7:00PM, no weekends.Position Description
Performs the duties of a pharmacist working in a specialty pharmacy in compliance with policy and state/federal regulations.
Acts as supervising pharmacist when the pharmacy manager/PIC is not present in the pharmacy.
Works in cooperation with all other pharmacy departments.
Prepares and dispenses Specialty Pharmaceutical Product prescriptions/orders. Evaluates Specific Products Requirements and comprehensive drug data files to evaluate prescription orders for accuracy.
Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper authorizations and/or certifications. Re-checks all orders for accuracy before processing and shipping. Processes and fills orders in an accurate and timely manner as per Manufacturer directions, and preparing all orders within S.O.P and department guidelines/processes.
Checks all prescriptions for completeness. Calculates correct dosages based on specific directions.
Organizes and directs technician’s workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, doses, cycles and shipping specifications.
Provides professional product information and assistance to clinical staff(s), patients, Pharmacy Staff.
Participates in Clinical/Staff teaching and in-service programs.
Verifies all inventory and expiry dates of products that are being dispensed. Verifies accurate temperature requirements.
Provides assistance and/or direction in the accurate filling, consolidation, and shipping of Specialty Product orders.
Prepares labels and directions for Specialty Product orders/prescriptions.
Maintains education information from Multiple Resources, remains abreast of new information. Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, disease states/ diagnosis, product usage, etc.
Prepares reports and monitoring activities as directed.
Maintains distributive, extemporaneous compounding, and clinical competency in compliance to policy and sufficient to meet pharmacy standards for patient safety and effective therapy, including clinical monitoring, assessments, adherence and compliance; compounds, dispenses and performs clinical activities to these standards
Ability to obtain prior authorizations and navigate third party prior authorization processes successfully
Ability to complete day end assignments – prints daily prescription log and performs computer backup procedures daily
Ability to review drug-drug interactions and manage patient medication regimen accordingly
Delegates aspects of the practice of pharmacy to a pharmacy intern or pharmacy technician within the parameters of their job description
Implements policy and regulatory required record systems and processes for the pharmacy
Maintains compliance to company formulary
Practices the concept of clean claims through compliance to proper pharmacy billing procedures
Works with supervisory staff to continually develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost effective services
Participates in the pharmacy on call rotation as applicable
Works independently; demonstrates leadership in the practice of pharmacy; serves as a backup to the supervising pharmacist
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures; developing and implementing new strategies and procedures (performance improvement) including best practices
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
QualificationsMinimum Requirements 3-5 years Pharmacy experienceCritical Skills Current pharmacist licensure in good standing in state of practice. 3-5 years experience performing the duties of a pharmacist working in a pharmacy in compliance with policy and state/federal regulations. Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record which meets Company standards if required to drive. Additional Knowledge & SkillsSpecialty experience nice to have Multiple State License preferred Education B.Pharm/PharmD; must be registered pharmacist in good standing with appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.Physical Requirements Employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, and reach outward on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to reach above shoulder, climb, and crawl, squat, kneel and bend. The employee must be able to frequently push/pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to lift/carry up to 15 lbs frequently and up to 35 lbs occasionally.
