Responsible for all aspects of accounting activity related to the carriage of mail between American Airlines Cargo and various postal administrations. Will serve as a liaison to individuals of all levels within other departments including cargo operations, cargo revenue management, cargo finance and local accounting offices. In addition this position will interact with outside parties including the various postal administrations, other airlines, country controller offices and third party vendors.
Key Responsibilities include:
Reconciliation and analysis of all payments made to AA by any postal administration to identify trends and areas of risk or exposure
Reconciliation and analysis of payment to other airlines for carriage of code share mail to ensure compliance with postal administration and partner contracts
Identification, preparation, filing and tracking of claim items
Reconciliation and analysis of claim items brought forth by other airlines for code share activity to ensure accuracy and validity
Analysis of mail revenue and scan data to identify and resolve areas of risk or exposure for lost revenue
Interact with postal administrations, internal AA staff, other airlines, third party vendors and any other necessary party to facilitate resolutions of claims, disputes, discrepancies and other issues affecting mail revenue and receivable.
Calculation of liability accruals for code share activity
Tracking, analysis and true up of code share liability accruals using both AA and postal administration data
Identification analysis and capture of mail revenue not captured through normal channels
Preparation of vouchers for processing of payments to other airlines
Assist Accounting Specialists with reconciliation and application of cash to mail accounts
Act as escalation contact for Specialists when issues arise with foreign mail accounts
Ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience is required.
Candidate must have strong data mining skills as well as expert skills in Microsoft Access.
Must be a team player with strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
Aptitude for problem solving with strong analytical and accounting skills is a must.
Must be able to work though complex issues and analysis with little guidance.
Ability to logically structure analysis of complex issues and develop creative solutions to challenges.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
Experience with SAP Financials, MySQL and AA Cargo systems and applications a plus.
