Position Profile

The Public Service Officer (PSO) is a non-sworn member of the Baylor Health Care System Department of Public Safety and is responsible for a variety of customer service and security related duties. Duties include: providing information and assistance to patients, visitors, employees, and staff; patrolling areas to detect security, safety and/or fire hazards; securing buildings; enforcing parking regulations; controlling access to buildings and parking lots; responding to calls for service; and assisting BHCS Police Officers (including assisting with arrests).

Minimum Qualifications

At least 18 years of age.

High school education or GED.

Good moral character.

Good interpersonal and public relation skills.

Ability to react well in stressful situations.

No Felony or Class A Misdemeanor convictions.

No class B Misdemeanor convictions in the last 10 years.

Valid driver license with good driving record.

Ability to undergo a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing and able to work any shift and several locations throughout the DFW Metroplex.

Possess the ability to lift, stand, push, pull, twist and/or climb for long periods of time.

Possess basic computer skills.

Ability to pass post job offer physical (including drug screening and vision testing) and psychological evaluation.

Ability to complete strenuous hands-on training in self defense, arrest techniques, handcuffing, defensive tactics, pepper spray use and CPR
