Job Description

This Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and delivering projects that support the American Airlines Technical Operations business unit. Other role descriptors include:

  • Driving project deliverables and decisions to completion

  • Organizing and leading project meetings to intended objectives

  • Supporting Product owner in managing expectations for deliverables. Managing Stakeholder communications and promoting adherence to project governance

  • Delivering consistency of project management and reporting across all projects

  • Ensuring all dependencies between projects are understood and managed

Job Qualifications

  • Inventory Management / Material Planning process and systems experience (preferred)

  • Aircraft maintenance business process and systems experience (preferred)

  • Four-year college degree

  • Master’s degree (preferred)

  • Professional certification in project management (preferred)

  • Agile experience (4+ years preferred)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced IT environment

  • Proven ability to work with complex business process changes and configurable systems that support them

  • 8+ years of experience managing large IT software development projects using structured PM and System Development methodologies/practices with project planning tools

  • Thorough knowledge of IT project life cycles

  • 8+ years of progressive broad-based information systems and business experience

  • Broad experience in a variety of computing platforms (mainframe, client/server, etc.)

  • Experience and a full understanding of failover/failback, disaster recovery and mirroring concepts is preferred

  • Experience delivering in-house and commercial off-the-shelf applications is preferred

  • Travel may be required
