The University of Texas Medical Branch Phlebotomist - Specimen Management (nights) in Galveston, Texas
High school or equivalent. No experience required.
Phlebotomist performs collection of blood samples through the use of skin puncture and venipuncture techniques.
The salary range for this position is from $26,400 to $39,600 annually, commensurate with experience.
This is a pay band Code PC11.
Specific Job Related Duties
Primary job duties include:
- Blood collections from adolescent, adult, and elderly inpatient populations
- Specimen receiving and processing in a high-volume laboratory setting:
- Data entry using Epic Beaker lab information system
- Centrifugation and use of automated laboratory equipment
- Timely and accurate distribution of laboratory specimens to testing areas for analysis
Night shift (22:00-06:30) with weekend and holiday rotations required. 40 hours a week.
This is a fast-paced work environment requiring extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate close attention to detail.
Security clearance by the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) is required for entry into a secure correctional facility for patient care duties.
